Katie Green is an author, illustrator and comics artist. Her graphic memoir, Lighter Than My Shadow, began as a degree project and was published by Jonathan Cape in 2013. The finished work, some 500 pages, took almost 5 years to complete. It chronicles her descent into – and recovery from – eating disorders and sexual abuse. Katie has spoken around the UK and internationally about her work and her experiences. She works as a freelance illustrator and self-publishes a long running zine called The Green Bean. Praise for Lighter Than My Shadow:
“Even at its most heartbreaking it never feels sombre … Inspiring, plucky and, in the end, consoling, it’s hard to put down.” (Rachel Cooke, Observer)
Katie will join Laydeez do Comics and other artists for the Storytelling Sexual Abuse Through Comics panel on Sunday 2nd of August.
