Queering Sexual Violence

Inspired by the book with the same name this discussion will explore how sexual violence impacts the LGBTQI* community including asking why there is a higher prevalence of abuse experiences within our community, do we do enough to create safe spaces of support, and are we able to be good sexual partners to people who’ve experienced abuse in the past? We’ll also explore whether there is a useful queer lens to understanding life after abuse, is abuse a form of ‘othering’ leaving you living in a world that was never designed for people like you? Chaired by psychologist and activist (and co-founder of the Clear Lines Festival) Dr Nina Burrowes.
